My Draak

Image
My vriendelike draaks se naam is Jannie.

100WC Challenge 5 - Spots Everywhere

I saw a sign that said "Free Hypnotizing Session". Why not, I thought. Just as I walked through the door, it creaked. Standing in front of me was a very interesting looking lady. She did not speak, she just stood there. As quick as a flash she pulled out a picture of a spot. I stared at the small spot but the spot just grew and grew. Eventually all I could see was the spot. I felt something wet on my cheek. Then I woke up to my dog licking my face. Erin, Grade 5

100WC Challenge 4 - The Chips

There they were, the most delicious looking chips. Guess what? Mom just bought them for me. As I bit into one of the chips, it was not what I expected. It was...sweet. Then mom asked, "How're the chips?" "They are so delicious," I lied. Then a row of birds caught my eye. When mom looked away, I threw those chips at them. Mom turned around and said, "Look at all those birds fly away and look Abby, that pigeon has the same chips as you in its mouth. What a coincidence. Wait where are your chips?" Mom asked. ILT

ILT was very fun, I got to work with people I've never worked with before. We had to research different cultures. We researched the African Farmers, they are an interesting culture. We then had to create a script for a play. I was a "rich girl" in the play. I really enjoyed when we went to Builders Warehouse, we looked at prices of different items. Then we added up the prices to see how much a very simple house would cost. Overall I really enjoyed this ILT!

A day in the life of a child in an informal settlement

Today was...something else. In the morning there was a huge storm, a humongous storm, I was very scared. There was water dripping into the shack, running down the walls. Next I had to go get some water...barefoot. It was cold, wet and windy. Then I went back home. I was thirsty, if only the government would give us more water. I knew that the water was for supper tonight, but I didn't want to go get some more water from the tap that was so far away. Some children are so lucky, they can go to school, my only dream is to go to school. Later that night, mom made supper, not much. I went outside to go to the toilet. It's not nice to go to a dirty toilet with no door. When I was finally in bed, I felt cold, I switched on the light. Thank goodness I have a Khaya power bottle. Finally I went to sleep. What a day. What will happen tomorrow?

100WC Challenge 3 - Connection

Where am I? Why am I here? How did I get here? I have to get out of here...but how? Then I thought, my phone, I can make a phone call! I need to get a bit of reception so I'm wandering around. Then suddenly I get one bar of reception. I was waiting and waiting for mom to pick up, when the connection broke. I hear footsteps, coming towards me. Who is it? Erin, Grade 5

100WC Challenge 2 - The Bomb

Image
Today I was passing by a humongous bush on my way to the shops,  when I saw three men talking. They were all dressed differently, they looked like they were from different parts of the world. They looked serious. Why? I don't know, but I had to find out. I snuck over behind the bush and heard the one man say, "How are we supposed to destroy the whole entire world?" The other guy said,"I have just invented a bomb that can, let's destroy the world!" They were criminals! I don't know what to do next. Erin, Grade 5
